Tour Location

Cox's Bazar is located in the southeastern region of Bangladesh, along the Bay of Bengal. It is approximately 150 kilometers south of the city of Chittagong and 390 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Dhaka. The town is situated on a peninsula that juts out into the Bay of Bengal, and is bordered by the Matamuhuri River to the north and the Bakkhali River to the south. The world-renowned Cox's Bazar Beach stretches over 120 kilometers along the coast, making it the longest natural sandy beach in the world. The town is also surrounded by lush green hills and forests, providing a beautiful backdrop to the stunning beach views.

History of the City

Cox's Bazar has a rich history dating back to the 7th century when it was ruled by the Pala dynasty. The town was an important center of Buddhist culture during the 9th-10th centuries, as evidenced by the ancient Buddhist ruins found in the area. The town was also a center of maritime trade during the 16th century, with Portuguese and Arakanese traders visiting the area. During British colonial rule, Cox's Bazar was used as a depot for salt and had a small settlement of European traders. In 1799, the British East India Company took control of the town and developed it as a tourist destination. The British developed several colonial-era buildings and a golf course, which are still popular tourist attractions today. In 1971, Cox's Bazar played a significant role in the Bangladesh Liberation War, with the town serving as a refuge for Bangladeshi refugees fleeing violence in neighboring Myanmar. The town has since developed into a major commercial and tourism hub, attracting visitors from all over the world to its stunning beaches and natural beauty.
